Ad creation process improvement for dealers and private sellers.

Challenge
Selling a classic car is a big deal, but creating an ad felt harder than it needed to be.
Many sellers — especially private collectors — weren’t sure what information mattered, how much detail to include, or why certain steps were important. The process felt long and intimidating, which led to drop-offs and incomplete ads.
Our challenge was to make ad creation feel simple, guided, and confidence-building, while still capturing all the details buyers care about.
Research & Insights
Through user interviews, funnel analysis, and usability reviews, a few themes kept coming up:
- Sellers didn’t always know what to do next or why it mattered
- Photos and videos were critical, but users weren’t sure what “good” looked like
- Private sellers’ photos a were all over the place: vertical, badly cropped, dark, light, rotated, bad angles, etc.
- Pricing and package choices caused hesitation and anxiety
- Users wanted reassurance they were creating a strong, effective listing
Overall, sellers weren’t lacking motivation — they just needed clearer guidance.
The Solution
We redesigned the ad builder to feel more like a step-by-step assistant than a long form.
- Broke the process into clear, manageable steps
- Added inline tips and examples to explain why each piece of info matters
- Gave photo and video guidance to help sellers showcase their car properly
- Added blurred backgrounds on listing the help wrong aspect ratio images look better
- Used progress indicators and real-time feedback so users always knew where they stood
- Reinforced the value of Premium listings throughout the flow
- Supported drafts and autosave so users could come back anytime

The goal was to reduce uncertainty and help users feel confident hitting “Publish.”
Results & Impact
- More users completed their ads instead of abandoning midway
- Listings were higher quality, with better photos and fuller descriptions
- Sellers felt more confident and informed during the process
- Fewer questions and friction during ad creation
In short: better experience, better ads.
Reflection
What worked well was focusing on clarity and reassurance.
By explaining the why behind each step, we turned a stressful task into a guided experience.
Looking ahead, there’s room to:

- Continue optimizing microcopy and prompts
- Improve the mobile experience even further
